The Old City Power Plant located at 18 Slomškova ulica in Ljubljana is a place with a rich technical and cultural history.

The hall has a surface area of 367m² and can accept up to 270 visitors. It comes complete with everything to host events. The building is owned by Elektro Ljubljana and, if you decide to hire the hall, we can provide all the technical support, security, parking and catering services.

You can hire out the Old City Power Plant for:

• company presentations, business meetings, press conferences, social gatherings and invitation-only evenings,
• New Year's parties for employees and for giving gift to employees’ children at Christmas,
• theatrical, musical and dance shows as well as art exhibitions,
• training sessions and seminars.

The extensive history of the Old Power Plant dates back to the time of it was constructed in 1898 since it represents one of the few preserved examples of industrial architecture in Ljubljana. Since then, it has seen many changes but has always remained vitally linked to both the environment and culture. In the 1980s and 1990s, it started to radiate in a new, cultural light and became an art centre.

Today the Old City Power Plant is protected as a cultural, technical and historical monument. To mark the plant’s 100th anniversary, we completely renovated the building and, on the 110th anniversary of the electrification of Ljubljana, we also renovated one street, Muzejska ulica, which houses a restored traction engine from 1926 and a generator. Protected by the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, this generator was the mechanical connecting link between direct and alternating current. In the Old City Power Plant, training sessions practices and performances of modern art are held in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, the Municipality of Ljubljana and the Bunker Institute.
